Degron Therapeutics
Short Biography
Dr. Julia Dou currently serves as the Director at Degron Therapeutics, with a strong academic background and extensive industry experience in structural biology and biochemistry. She specializes in ubiquitin signaling, protein interactions, and drug screening, and is proficient in techniques such as crystallography, cryo-electron microscopy, and proteomics. Dr. Dou obtained her Ph.D. from the University of Glasgow and previously held the position of Associate Professor at Shandong University. She also participated in research collaborations as a visiting scientist at the University of Oxford. She has successfully developed multiple innovative technology platforms and has made significant contributions to the structural analysis of molecular glue complexes and the discovery of new molecular glue targets.
Presentation Topic: Discovery of molecular glue degraders targeting undruggable targets
• Targeted protein degradation provides a new approach to meet unmet medical need.
• Molecular glue degraders repurpose the specific E3 ligase to recruit target protein for ubiquitylation and degradation via ubiquitin-proteasome system (UPS).
• The target proteins of molecular glue degraders do not require the binding pocket required by small-molecule inhibitors.
• Molecular glue degrader is a growing field and more molecular glue degraders will move to clinical in the future, apart from the approved molecular glue degrader lenalidomide and pomalidomide.
